Monday, July 31: Scripture – Isaiah 55:1
1 Ho, everyone who thirsts,
come to the waters;
and you that have no money,
come, buy and eat!
Come, buy wine and milk
without money and without price.
Prayer Focus: After a summer series on prayer, we are preparing for the new program year here at Unity Presbyterian Church. There are exciting and faith-filled things ahead of us this year. We begin with the Annual Meeting of the Congregation this coming Sunday and the preaching text in worship will be from Isaiah 55. The prophet Isaiah is announcing a new day for God’s people in exile in Babylon. It is as if he stands on the street corner as a vendor inviting the people to come. Everyone who hungers and thirsts is welcome. They cannot provide for themselves, but what they need – water, bread, wine, and milk – is available free of charge. What do you need to sustain you today and in the year ahead? Is it something material? Something spiritual? Pray that God will provide for you. Give thanks for the gifts you receive free of charge.
