1 Paul, called to be an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, and our brother Sosthenes,
Prayer Focus: In a way similar to how email today includes the name of the sender at the top, Paul’s letters always begin with his introduction. As he writes to the Corinthians he says, “Paul, called to be an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, and our brother Sosthenes.” How do you introduce yourself when you meet someone for the first time? At least here, Paul identifies himself as one who is called by the will of God. His identity is not primarily in what he has done or accomplished. He is who God has called him to be. Pray that you might recognize your fundamental identity in the call of God upon your life today.
