28 About eight days after Jesus said this, he took Peter, John and James with him and went up onto a mountain to pray.

Prayer Focus: This coming Sunday, March 2, we look forward to the Rev. MaryAnn McKibben Dana’s visit to Unity to preach and teach. Many of us have been reading her book “Hope: A User’s Manual” and we anticipate the Word she will bring to us. This coming Sunday is also Transfiguration Sunday, so this week we will consider this text as Jesus takes Peter, John, and James up onto a mountain to pray. It begins, “about eight days after.” The previous story in Luke’s Gospel was Peter’s declaration that Jesus was the Messiah and Jesus relating the true demands of following him. With eight days to contemplate that challenging message, will the disciples follow Jesus all the way? Will we? Pray for the courage to climb the mountain with Jesus today.
