Monday, February 20: Scripture – Genesis 3:1
1 Now the serpent was more crafty than any other wild animal that the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God say, ‘You shall not eat from any tree in the garden’?”
Prayer Focus: This week we enter the season of Lent. The season begins on Ash Wednesday, and we will gather for worship that evening. However, throughout the week, we will prepare ourselves for worship on Sunday with this text from the 3rd chapter of Genesis. After the two creation stories, we are suddenly introduced to the serpent at the beginning of chapter three. The serpent is more crafty than any other wild animal and that apparently made the serpent good at asking questions. Did God say, “You shall not eat from any tree in the garden?” How do you remember what the Lord has said? Are you able to recall in a moment of question? Pray that you might hold onto what the Lord said today.
