42 So will it be with the resurrection of the dead. The body that is sown is perishable, it is raised imperishable; 43 it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power; 44 it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body.
Prayer Focus: We return this week to Paul’s first letter to the Corinthians, jumping to the final verses of chapter 15. Paul has been lifting up how essential Christ’s resurrection is for Christian faith. He begins in this text with a series of contrasts between the perishable and the imperishable. For Paul all of this leads to the affirmation that there is a spiritual body. To be a creature, beloved by God, is to be embodied. Take a moment and look at your physical body. What do you love about your body? What parts are not your favorite? Pray with expectation for the spiritual body you will one day have.
