22 They came to Bethsaida. Some people brought a blind man to him and begged him to touch him. 23 He took the blind man by the hand and led him out of the village, and when he had put saliva on his eyes and laid his hands on him, he asked him, “Can you see anything?” 24 And the man looked up and said, “I can see people, but they look like trees, walking.” 25 Then Jesus laid his hands on his eyes again, and he looked intently, and his sight was restored, and he saw everything clearly. 26 Then he sent him away to his home, saying, “Do not even go into the village.”
Prayer Focus: This is a very curious story to me as it takes Jesus two attempts to get the man’s sight restored. Where previously we have seen a young girl healed at a distance when Jesus merely speaks a word, in this case, Jesus puts saliva on the man’s eyes and lays his hands on him with the result being the man can see people that look like trees, walking. Jesus tries again and this time the man’s sight is restored. Do you expect everything you want from God to happen immediately? Even worse, do you settle for limited sight or outcomes like “seeing people, but they look like trees, walking”? Pray for patience and perseverance in your walk with Jesus. Trust in God’s timing and that God is not quite finished with you yet.
