Monday, August 14: Scripture – Luke 24:13-16
13 Now on that same day two of them were going to a village called Emmaus, about seven miles from Jerusalem,
14 and talking with each other about all these things that had happened.
15 While they were talking and discussing, Jesus himself came near and went with them,
16 but their eyes were kept from recognizing him.
Prayer Focus: This Sunday at Unity is Youth Sunday, so our High School and Middle School Youth will be leading us in worship at both worship services. They have drawn scripture texts, liturgy, and prayers from their summer trip experiences at the Charleston Youth Mission, Montreat Middle School Conference, and Montreat High School Conference. One of the scriptures is the story of Jesus’ encounter with two disciples on the road to Emmaus. It begins on the day of Jesus’ resurrection from the dead as these two disciples walk away from Jerusalem. Jesus comes near, but they do not recognize him. How often do you think Jesus walks with us, but we do not recognize him? Pray for eyes to see Jesus with you today.
