Monday, April 10: Scripture – Luke 24:33-35
33 That same hour they got up and returned to Jerusalem, and they found the eleven and their companions gathered together.
34 They were saying, “The Lord has risen indeed, and he has appeared to Simon!”
35 Then they told what had happened on the road and how he had been made known to them in the breaking of the bread.
Prayer Focus: The Gospel of Luke shares with us that on the evening of Jesus’ resurrection, Jesus joins two disciples on the road to Emmaus. The disciples do not recognize Jesus until he breaks the bread with them at dinner. However, when their eyes are opened in recognition, Jesus disappears from their sight. Our verses today, and for the rest of this week, detail what happens next. The disciples immediately get up and return to Jerusalem to tell the others. They are no longer tired. They are no longer discouraged. They are filled with the good news of resurrection. Pray that on this day after Easter Sunday you will still be filled with the good news of resurrection.
