Tuesday, January 5: Scripture – Mark 1:2-3
2 As it is written in the prophet Isaiah,
“See, I am sending my messenger ahead of you,
who will prepare your way;
3 the voice of one crying out in the wilderness:
‘Prepare the way of the Lord,
make his paths straight,’”
Prayer Focus: The Gospel of Mark’s good news begins abruptly, and yet it immediately places itself in an ancient context. The prophet Isaiah told us that God would send a messenger to prepare the way. For the Israelites, they originally heard this as one who would prepare the way for them to come home from exile; to return to the land of promise. We hear this voice preparing the way for the Lord to come to us. Even before we think about looking for God, God comes looking for us. Pray that you might be found by the Lord today.
