Saturday, January 2: Scripture – Ephesians 1:7-10
7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace 8 that he lavished on us. With all wisdom and insight 9 he has made known to us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure that he set forth in Christ, 10 as a plan for the fullness of time, to gather up all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth.
Prayer Focus: This is one of the passages that Presbyterians turn to as we seek to understand predestination. God has a plan that is mysterious apart from what has been revealed to us in Christ. A plan for the fullness of time to gather up all things in Christ, things in heaven and things on earth. It is hard to imagine that God will gather up all things – not just the things we consider to be good, but all things – in Christ. Pray that you might trust in God’s plan for the year ahead to gather up all things in Christ. How can you participate in God’s plan for you in this new year?
