Tuesday, January 19: Scripture – Jonah 3:2
2 “Get up, go to Nineveh, that great city, and proclaim to it the message that I tell you.”
Prayer Focus: Go to Nineveh, that great city. As one who spent my formative teen years in a small town with more cows than people, the “city” has always been a place of unknown for me. Now as an adult I’ve lived and served in a collection of small towns, suburban communities, and even small cities, so I’ve grown to appreciate the challenges and opportunities of a variety of communities. Jonah initially ran from the idea of going to Nineveh – he certainly did not regard it as a “great city.” It was a foreign place, a place of sin, a place beyond redemption. Where is God calling you to go today outside your comfort zone? To whom is God sending you with a message to proclaim? Pray that you might be willing to go today.
