Sunday, January 10: Scripture – Mark 1:10-11
10 And just as he was coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens torn apart and the Spirit descending like a dove on him. 11 And a voice came from heaven, “You are my Son, the Beloved; with you I am well pleased.”
Prayer Focus: As Jesus is coming up out of the water, he sees the heavens torn apart and the Spirit descending like a dove on him. He hears a voice from heaven, “You are my Son, the Beloved; with you I am well pleased.” Imagine what it must have been like for Jesus to hear that voice and to see the Spirit’s descent upon him. He knew, I am sure from the stories his mother and father had told him, that he was a child of promise. And yet, to hear the voice from heaven and see the Spirit. May you hear a confirmation today that you are a beloved child of God. Give thanks to God when that confirmation comes.
