Friday, September 30: Scripture – 2 Timothy 1:8-10
8 Do not be ashamed, then, of the testimony about our Lord or of me his prisoner, but join with me in suffering for the gospel, relying on the power of God,
9 who saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works but according to his own purpose and grace. This grace was given to us in Christ Jesus before the ages began,
10 but it has now been revealed through the appearing of our Savior Christ Jesus, who abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel.
Prayer Focus: It is not often that we hear an invitation to “join with me in suffering for the gospel,” but that is what Paul offers Timothy in our verses today. We would be happy to join in the joy or the service or the celebration or the community of the gospel, right? But to join the suffering – that sounds hard. And it is. But we do not enter this suffering on our own. We rely on the power of God who saved us and called us with a holy calling according to his own grace. Pray that you might fully rely on God’s grace today – no matter what may come.
