Friday, November 19: Scripture – John 18:37
37 Pilate asked him, “So you are a king?” Jesus answered, “You say that I am a king. For this I was born, and for this I came into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone who belongs to the truth listens to my voice.”
Prayer Focus: Pilate remains confused. Is Jesus a king or not? Jesus seems to finally confirm that this is his true identity. However, he remains not the king Pilate fears. Pilate worries about a rebellion, a military battle for power, something or someone who will upset the status quo. Jesus says he is about a much larger turning for the world. He has come to testify to the truth. And everyone who belongs to the truth listens to his voice. Pray that you might belong to the truth – the truth about love being stronger than hate; the truth about the value of each and every child of God; the truth that life is more powerful than death. Listen to his voice and believe.
