7 Then all those young women got up and trimmed their lamps.
8 The foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’
9 But the wise replied, ‘No! there will not be enough for you and for us; you had better go to the dealers and buy some for yourselves.’
Prayer Focus: All the young women get up and trim their lamps. But the foolish discover that their lamps are going out. They ask the wise to share some of their oil, but apparently there is not enough. The best advice they can give – or is it an intentional attempt to exclude the foolish – is to send them to the oil dealers at midnight to buy more oil. How do we react to those who seem foolish? Pray that we might act with grace, even in moments of great frustration.
