Scripture – 1 Corinthians 12:8-10

8 To one is given through the Spirit the utterance of wisdom and to another the utterance of knowledge according to the same Spirit, 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit, 10 to another the working of powerful deeds, to another prophecy, to another the discernment of spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues.

Prayer Focus: In his letters, the apostle Paul shares several different lists of spiritual gifts. This one begins with wisdom and ends with speaking in tongues. While different gifts are mentioned, at least in this case, it is important that Paul ends with speaking in tongues and the interpretation of tongues. In Corinth, the church was divided because some thought speaking in tongues was the highest and best spiritual gift. Paul reminds them that all gifts are from the same Spirit and tongues might even be last on the list. Pray that you might value all the gifts the Spirit gives. Pray that your gifts might draw you into the church, not separate you from it.
