Scripture – Matthew 13:27-28a

27 And the slaves of the householder came and said to him, ‘Master, did you not sow good seed in your field? Where, then, did these weeds come from?’ 28 He answered, ‘An enemy has done this.’

Prayer Focus: The slaves of the householder want to know where the weeds came from? Did the householder intentionally put them there? These are big theological questions, like how could there be evil in a world created and sustained by a good God? The householder answers that an enemy, someone working against the plans and purposes of God, has sown the weeds in the field. Jesus never denies that there are forces working against him during his ministry. He is not unaware of the complexities of life.
