Friday, July 19th: Scripture – Acts 10:44-46a

44 While Peter was still speaking, the Holy Spirit fell upon all who heard the word. 45 The circumcised believers who had come with Peter were astounded that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out even on the gentiles, 46 for they heard them speaking in tongues and extolling God.

Prayer Focus: This morning we turn to the Acts of the Apostles and join the conclusion of the story of the apostle Peter and the Roman centurion Cornelius. Peter is surprised to have been summoned to Cornelius’ house. Peter is surprised by a vision in which God made clear that he should not call anyone profane or unclean. And now, after sharing the gospel, Peter and the circumcised believers are astounded that the gift of the Holy Spirit has been poured out even on the gentiles. God keeps surprising us by showing up in unexpected places! Pray that you might have eyes to see where the Holy Spirit is at work today.
