Friday, January 7: Scripture – Isaiah 42:3-4
3 For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior. I give Egypt as your ransom, Ethiopia and Seba in exchange for you.
4 Because you are precious in my sight, and honored, and I love you, I give people in return for you, nations in exchange for your life.
Prayer Focus: Isaiah reminds us that God loves us so much and has promised to be with us always, even to the point that it costs God something to do so. The imagery here is that we are captives. But we are honored and loved, so God acts to redeem us. God pays the ransom so that we might be free. Give thanks that you have been set free today – and remember that God acts for you because God loves you.
