Friday, February 4: Scripture – Isaiah 6:6-7

6 Then one of the seraphs flew to me, holding a live coal that had been taken from the altar with a pair of tongs.

7 The seraph touched my mouth with it and said: “Now that this has touched your lips, your guilt has departed and your sin is blotted out.”

Prayer Focus: Throughout the scriptures, whenever a prophet is called, he or she has an objection. Surely you don’t mean me, God! Isaiah’s objection was that he was a man of unclean lips. However, each and every time in the Bible, when God calls a prophet God also overcomes the prophet’s objection to their call. As I read a long time ago, “God does not call the qualified, God qualifies the called.” In this case, the seraph touched Isaiah’s lips with the live coal and declared that his guilt has departed and his sin is blotted out. Whatever your objection, God can and will overcome it. Pray that you might hear and receive the gift God seeks to give to you.
