Friday, December 10: Scripture – Luke 2:9-12
9 Then an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified.
10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid; for see—I am bringing you good news of great joy for all the people:
11 to you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is the Messiah, the Lord.
12 This will be a sign for you: you will find a child wrapped in bands of cloth and lying in a manger.”
Prayer Focus: This sounds like unbelievable news to the shepherds – to us is born this day the Messiah? If someone suddenly showed up at your work with this kind of announcement, what would your reaction be? Well, the proof of this amazing claim is quite simple: there’s a child wrapped in bands of cloth and lying in a manger. A child in a manager must have been unusual enough that the shepherds would recognize it as the proof of the amazing news they have just heard. What provides proof for you of the good news of great joy you have received? Pray for eyes to see and ears to hear that proof again today.
