Friday, April 8: Scripture – Luke 19:37-38
37 As he was now approaching the path down from the Mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to praise God joyfully with a loud voice for all the deeds of power that they had seen,
38 saying, “Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven, and glory in the highest heaven!”
Prayer Focus: The whole multitude of disciples began to praise God joyfully with a loud voice for all the deeds of power that they had seen. The Gospel of Luke uses this phrase for the disciples in other places to describe a group of about 120 people. Sometimes we think of this triumphal entry into Jerusalem as an event that overtook the entire city. Maybe it was just the faithful band that had traveled with Jesus from Galilee, that had witnessed the deeds of power, and now lifted their voice in a song fitting the arrival of a king. Join your voice with the small crowd that sings on behalf of Jesus today. Do not worry if the whole world can hear you. Just sing.
