11 But Mary stood weeping outside the tomb. As she wept, she bent over to look into the tomb; 12 and she saw two angels in white, sitting where the body of Jesus had been lying, one at the head and the other at the feet. 13 They said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping?” She said to them, “They have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid him.”
Prayer Focus: Mary has followed the two disciples to the tomb and remains at the tomb when the men return to their homes. She looks through her tears into the tomb and sees two angels in white. They were not there when the men were in the tomb, but they appear to Mary. In our Holy Week, today marks the day Jesus gives his life for us on the cross. It is a day for tears. Pray that we too might see the messengers God sends us today even as we weep.
