“…Christ the babe is Lord of all!
Christ the babe is Lord of all!”

“…Thus rejoicing, free from sorrow,

praises voicing, greet the morrow;
Christ the babe was born for you!
Christ the babe was born for you!”

This hymn is one of my favorites because it reminds us that God’s ways are not our ways. At Christmas, we remember that Jesus entered the world through a humble birth. Yet, He is Lord of all.

I recently watched an interview with Mattie Jackson Smith (lifetodaytv). One of the questions she was asked is what do we do when our miracle story doesn’t happen? Why do we pray for healing?

Her answer was that when we pray, we are being obedient to worship God when the outcome may or may not be what we want. She also stated that God is drawing us closer to who He is, separating who He is from what He does or does not do.

Because “Christ the babe is Lord of all!”, we can trust Him even when we do not understand. Because “Christ the babe was born for you”, each of us can have a personal relationship with the sovereign Lord and love Him for who He is.

Prayer: Dear God, thank you for who you are and for sending your Son into the world to save us from our sin. May we trust you as Lord of all and remember that you can make the lowly, holy. Amen
