6 Yet among the mature we do speak wisdom, though it is not a wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are being destroyed. 7 But we speak God’s wisdom, a hidden mystery, which God decreed before the ages for our glory 8 and which none of the rulers of this age understood, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.
Prayer Focus: Paul is not anti-intellectual, he points to God’s wisdom which has been revealed in Jesus. We live in a world skeptical of learning and education. We want to hold onto the world as we remember it as opposed to questioning what we have been taught and being challenged to consider other points of view. God’s wisdom is not understood by the rulers of this age. The cross is not understood by the rulers of this age. Pray that we might listen for God’s call and that our focus might be with Christ alone.
