Tuesday, June 11th: Scripture – Revelation 4:2-3

2 At once I was in the spirit, and there in heaven stood a throne, with one seated on the throne! 3 And the one seated there looks like jasper and carnelian, and around the throne is a rainbow that looks like an emerald.

Prayer Focus: The first image John sees is the throne.  The one seated on the throne is God.  And the details included here, jasper and carnelian, rainbow and emerald, are meant to symbolize God’s glory and majesty.  In heaven, the place of royal recognition is reserved only for God.  This should wake up John’s listeners, because they are living under the weight of the Roman Empire, where the emperor claims the throne.  These verses set the scene for the upcoming decision that followers of Christ will have to make.  Who do they worship?  Pray today that the church in the world might recognize who it is that we are called to worship.
