Tuesday, May 21st: Scripture: John 3:3-5

Jesus answered him, “Very truly, I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God without being born from above.” Nicodemus said to him, “How can anyone be born after having grown old? Can one enter a second time into the mother’s womb and be born?” Jesus answered, “Very truly, I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God without being born of water and Spirit.

Prayer Focus: Nicodemus has questions.  Jesus has answers…sort of.  Like many other instances in the gospels, Jesus’ responses are confusing.  Jesus tells Nicodemus to see the kingdom of God he must be born again.  Nicodemus doesn’t understand because he knows its impossible to physically go back into a womb and to be born again.  There is confusion here because Jesus and Nicodemus are speaking two different languages.  One is speaking of spiritual things, and the other of physical things.  The physical impossibility of rebirth is distracting Nicodemus from entering the conversation Jesus is trying to have with him.  Today, take time to name some things that distract you from Christ’s voice in your life.  What keeps you from being a part of the conversation?
