24 Then they prayed and said, “Lord, you know everyone’s heart. Show us which one of these two you have chosen 25 to take the place in this ministry and apostleship from which Judas turned aside to go to his own place.”
Prayer Focus: The “election” process is not an election after all. The large group of disciples pray and ask that God will reveal to them which one God has chosen to join the apostles. In our democratic system, we trust the will of the people to elect their leaders. In the church, we pray that the will of God will be revealed in those called to serve. We hope and pray that these will be the same thing, but as sinners we know that the will of the people can sometimes be contrary to the will of God. Pray for those called to lead in the church, in our community, and in our world today. Pray that the Lord, who knows everyone’s heart, will lift up those called to serve with servant hearts.
