Sunday, April 7th: Scripture – John 21:18-19

18 Very truly, I tell you, when you were younger, you used to fasten your own belt and to go wherever you wished. But when you grow old, you will stretch out your hands, and someone else will fasten a belt around you and take you where you do not wish to go.” 19 (He said this to indicate the kind of death by which he would glorify God.) After this he said to him, “Follow me.”

Prayer Focus: “Follow me.”  It sounds simple enough.  But wait…if I follow, how long will the journey be?  And if I follow, will I have a safe, clean place to sleep each night along the way?  And will someone look after my family while I’m away?  What should I pack?  What will the weather be like?  What kind of work will I be doing?  Will I have any time to sightsee?  When Jesus says, “follow me,” we want assurances that everything will be alright.  We want to know what the trip will be like and what to expect…but Jesus doesn’t tell us any of that.  In fact, Jesus warns us that the journey may not lead us where we want to go…into hard places…with difficult experiences.  We don’t leave on this journey with answers…we leave with our faith.  Pray today that you might follow the resurrected Christ with faith, wherever he might lead you.
