Friday, April 5th: Scripture – John 21:15-16

15 When they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?” He said to him, “Yes, Lord; you know that I love you.” Jesus said to him, “Feed my lambs.”

16 A second time he said to him, “Simon son of John, do you love me?” He said to him, “Yes, Lord; you know that I love you.” Jesus said to him, “Tend my sheep.”

Prayer Focus: The last time Peter sat at a charcoal fire, it was in John18:18.  He was standing around the fire warming himself as people asked him repeatedly if he was one of Jesus’ disciples.  Every time someone asked him if he knew Jesus, he said no.  Now, as he sits at another charcoal fire, Jesus is asking him if he loves him.  We all fall short of the calling we are given to follow Christ faithfully.  It takes courage to stand back up when we fall, and to try to move forward and do better.  Pray today that you might have the courage to continue to accept Jesus’ invitation to follow, no matter how many times you mess up along the way.
