30 They went on from there and passed through Galilee. He did not want anyone to know it, 31 for he was teaching his disciples, saying to them, “The Son of Man is to be betrayed into human hands, and they will kill him, and three days after being killed, he will rise again.” 32 But they did not understand what he was saying and were afraid to ask him.
Prayer Focus: These verses are another private conversation between Jesus and the disciples. Jesus is sharing more about what is to come. He is identifying himself as the Son of Man, and foreshadowing Judas’ betrayal, as well as his death and resurrection. After Jesus says these things, the disciples are silent, they are not asking questions like they normally do. They are silent because they don’t know what to say and they are afraid. What fears are you carrying around? What questions do you have that you are not asking? Pray this week that you might be able to practice courage and have faith in the face of fear.
