Prayer Focus: John is the only gospel that interprets Jesus as the incarnation of the preexistent Word. From the beginning John wants us, the readers, to know who Jesus is so that as we read about him turning water to wine, healing the sick, eating with outcasts, and raising the dead, we can see the divine in him. Even when other characters in the gospel of John are confused, we the readers don’t need to be confused, because we have been told exactly who this Jesus is. Pray today that we might continue to recognize Jesus Christ, the Word of God in our daily lives.
