Prayer Focus: We begin the liturgical year with Advent, a season of expectation and hope. We anticipate Christ’s birth, or advent, in Bethlehem so many years ago. Yet, as the third verse of the hymn reminds us, we also live “in patient expectation … for that great day when your renewed creation your glory shall display.” We anticipate Christ’s advent, or return, to make all things new. The question is how shall we meet the Lord? How are we living today with this hope and expectation? As you sing and as you pray, lift your eyes to the future glory God brings.
