Saturday, October 21: Scripture – Jeremiah 1:10
10 See, today I appoint you over nations and over kingdoms,
to pluck up and to pull down,
to destroy and to overthrow,
to build and to plant.”
Prayer Focus: Earlier in this series we reflected on how telling the truth can be difficult and demanding. Initially Jeremiah’s call sounds wonderful – God is with him and God puts words in his mouth. But the words God provides are to pluck up and pull down, to destroy and to overflow, and finally to build and to plant. We would much rather be builders and planters than destroyers and those who pluck up. As we prepare to celebrate Unity’s anniversary tomorrow, pray that we might be honest in our celebration. Pray that we might tell the truth. Pray that we might witness not to ourselves but to Jesus Christ’s transforming grace and love.
