Sunday, October 8: Scripture – Luke 10:41-42
41 But the Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and distracted by many things,
42 but few things are needed—indeed only one. Mary has chosen the better part, which will not be taken away from her.”
Prayer Focus: Could this be a call story for Martha? Just as Jesus called Peter away from his nets and Matthew from his tax collecting booth, could Jesus be calling Martha away from the many things that worry and distract her? Based on the other times in the gospels where we encounter Martha, no longer bound by the demands and expectations placed upon women in her day, I suspect that she answered this call to discipleship. Pray that you might listen to Jesus’ call to you today.
