Friday, September 15: Scripture – Acts 11:25-26
25 Then Barnabas went to Tarsus to look for Saul,
26 and when he had found him he brought him to Antioch. So it was that for an entire year they met with the church and taught a great many people, and it was in Antioch that the disciples were first called “Christians.”
Prayer Focus: Barnabas realizes that the soil has been prepared and the potential harvest in Antioch is so great that he cannot do this work alone. So he goes and gets Saul from Tarsus. Together, for an entire year, they met with the church and taught a great many people. As those who live together and worship together, we find the first reference to the church as “Christians.” Christians are those who follow Christ. Pray that you might be known as one who follows Christ today. Remember that it is too big a job to follow Christ alone, so give thanks for those who join you on this journey.
