Monday, August 28: Scripture – Romans 12:9-10
9 Let love be genuine; hate what is evil; hold fast to what is good; 10 love one another with mutual affection; outdo one another in showing honor.
Prayer Focus: If someone asked you what was Paul’s vision of a faithful Christian life, you just might point them to the 12th chapter of his letter to the Romans. With these verses, Paul piles up images and advice that taken together form a tapestry of faith. There is not time to focus on everything he says, so I’ll just seek to lift up highlights each day in these devotions. Paul begins his list with two references to love. Let love be genuine and love one another with mutual affection. I’ve often remarked that when the church stops loving one another and the world, we’ve stopped being the church. Pray that your love today might be genuine. Pray that you might receive the love others seek to share with you as well.
