Saturday, August 26: Scripture – Matthew 16:20
20 Then he sternly ordered the disciples not to tell anyone that he was the Messiah.
Prayer Focus: After this almost gushing celebration of Peter’s faith, Jesus puts it all back in the box. The foundation of the church, the keys to the kingdom, the identity of Jesus himself have all been glimpsed – but let’s not tell anyone about it yet. Let’s wait until the right time. Pray that you might know the right time to tell someone that Jesus is the Messiah. And don’t forget that the people recognized Jesus was a potential troublemaker, so pray that you might be prepared for some “good trouble” when you do open the box to reveal the real Jesus.
