Thursday, August 24: Scripture – Matthew 16:17
17 And Jesus answered him, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah! For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you but my Father in heaven.
Prayer Focus: Jesus praises this answer by Simon, but recognizes that to make such a claim; to truly understand who Jesus is, is a gift that comes to us from God alone. I often say that I’ve never met someone who argued themselves into faith. I have met a lot of people who were loved into faith, pointed toward God, and showed what a life transforming thing faith can be. To really know Jesus is to receive a gift, not figure it out on your own. Pray that you might be open to receiving the gift of faith today. May you be blessed!
