Saturday, August 12 – Scripture: 1 Kings 19:14
14 He answered, “I have been very zealous for the Lord, the God of hosts, for the Israelites have forsaken your covenant, thrown down your altars, and killed your prophets with the sword. I alone am left, and they are seeking my life, to take it away.”
Prayer Focus: This is Elijah’s second rant in this passage. He is so distressed that he doesn’t even change what he says, he just repeats himself. The awe of encountering God didn’t even startle him out of his stressed-out state. Elijah feels alone and scared. And while many of us may never experience the same traumatic events Elijah has, there are plenty of times we feel afraid and isolated. Pray today for all those who feel just as Elijah felt.
