Tuesday, May 2: Scripture – John 14:2-3
2 In my Father’s house there are many dwelling places. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you?
3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, so that where I am, there you may be also.
Prayer Focus: Occasionally in a memorial service someone will request that we read these verses from the old King James Version of the bible. And it always makes me chuckle to hear that in the Father’s house there are many “mansions.” What Jesus promises is more modest than that. The promise is really that even though Jesus is going away, he will come back. We don’t need mansions, we need to be where Jesus is. And that is what he promises. Pray that you might temper your desire for a grandiose mansion and turn your heart to welcome Jesus. For where he is, there you may be also.
