Friday, February 10: Scripture – Psalm 119:5-6
5 O that my ways may be steadfast
in keeping your statutes!
6 Then I shall not be put to shame,
having my eyes fixed on all your commandments.
Prayer Focus: As a reminder, the verses of Psalm 119 (all 176 of them!) are like looking at the law of God through a prism. Each turn reveals a different perspective. Today verse six reminds us that we seek to keep the law to avoid being a law-breaker. The psalmist does not want to be put to shame, so eyes are fixed on all the Lord’s commandments. Shame is complicated. We always want to affirm the inherent worth and value of each individual. And yet, being ashamed of our sin and failings can lead to repentance and the possibilities of new life in Christ. Pray that you might fix your eyes on the Lord’s commandments, so you shall not be put to shame.
