Wednesday, February 8: Scripture – Psalm 119:1-3
1 Happy are those whose way is blameless,
who walk in the law of the Lord.
2 Happy are those who keep his decrees,
who seek him with their whole heart,
3 who also do no wrong
but walk in his ways.
Prayer Focus: We turn this morning from Jesus’ interpretation of the law in the Sermon on the Mount to a psalm that reflects upon or meditates upon the law. Psalm 119 includes 176 verses. Don’t worry, we are not going to read them all in worship on Sunday! The verses are set in collections which reflect on different understandings of the Torah or God’s law. We begin with these three verses which sound like the Beatitudes from the Sermon on the Mount. Happy are those whose way is blameless, who walk in the law of the Lord. Walking in the way of the Lord reminds us that obedience to God’s vision of the good life is not a stationary event. We are called to walk with God into the future God is preparing. Pray that you might dust off your feet and start walking with God today.
