Wednesday, February 1: Scripture – Isaiah 40:29-31
29 He gives power to the faint,
and strengthens the powerless.
30 Even youths will faint and be weary,
and the young will fall exhausted;
31 but those who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength,
they shall mount up with wings like eagles,
they shall run and not be weary,
they shall walk and not faint.
Prayer Focus: These closing words of Isaiah 40 might be familiar ones for you. As we’re celebrating Scout Sunday this week, you might be able to guess why we’re using this text (ie, eagles). The Lord shares his power with the faint. The Lord strengthens the powerless. None of us can sustain ourselves for this journey all by ourselves. We do not have it in us, we will faint, be weary, and fall exhausted. And yet, those who wait for the Lord shall run and not be weary. They shall walk and not faint. Pray that you might wait for the Lord. Pray that you might walk and not faint today. Pray that you will mount up with wings like eagles.
