Saturday, January 28: Scripture – Micah 6:6-7
6 “With what shall I come before the Lord
and bow myself before God on high?
Shall I come before him with burnt offerings,
with calves a year old?
7 Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams,
with ten thousands of rivers of oil?
Shall I give my firstborn for my transgression,
the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?”
Prayer Focus: The voice shifts in our text for today from the voice of the Lord to the voice of the people. It seems to be a genuine query as to what will please the Lord. The question intrigues me, “With what shall I come before the Lord?” What does it mean to come before the Lord? How do we live face to face with our God? How might we recognize that we live our entire lives “before the Lord.” I suspect that the answer to the question is not found in burnt offerings, rivers of oil, or even the sacrifice of our children. Pay that you might know that today you stand “before the Lord.”
