Prayer Focus: The first scripture that we will consider this week comes from the Gospel according to Matthew, chapter 5. This is the beginning of Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount. Each verse begins with the Greek word, makarios, which sometimes is translated as “happy.” However, “happy” does not seem to describe those who mourn or those who hunger and thirst for righteousness. However, if the Lord is present with us, we are blessed no matter our circumstances. Pray that you might be blessed today even if you are not particularly happy.
