Thursday, January 5: Scripture – Matthew 2:7-8
7 Then Herod secretly called for the magi and learned from them the exact time when the star had appeared.
8 Then he sent them to Bethlehem, saying, “Go and search diligently for the child, and when you have found him, bring me word so that I may also go and pay him homage.”
Prayer Focus: Not wanting to cause a big ruckus, remember the whole town is in an uproar, Herod secretly called for the magi and learned from them when the star had appeared. Then he sent them to Bethlehem and asked that they bring him word so he can go and pay homage. The magi received the answer to their initial question, but now they are being brought into Herod’s plot. We know the outcome, but at the time they did not. Pray that the advice you receive from others will be faithful and true. Be wary of those who seek to use you for their own advantage.
