Tuesday, October 18: Scripture – 2 Timothy 4:7-8
7 I have fought the good fight; I have finished the race; I have kept the faith.
8 From now on there is reserved for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will give me on that day, and not only to me but also to all who have longed for his appearing.
Prayer Focus: What a wonderful image: “I have fought the good fight; I have finished the race; I have kept the faith.” The gift of persistence is such a powerful witness. When times get difficult, when the race seems long, when our faith is challenged, have you stayed the course? Paul claims that as a result there is a crown of righteousness reserved for him. And this is key: a crown of righteousness not just for him, but for all who have faithfully longed for Christ’s appearing. Pray for the gift of perseverance and endurance today.
