Monday, June 13: Scripture – John 16:1-3
1 “I have said these things to you to keep you from falling away.
2 They will put you out of the synagogues. Indeed, an hour is coming when those who kill you will think that by doing so they are offering worship to God.
3 And they will do this because they have not known the Father or me.
Prayer Focus: We return this week to the Gospel of John’s account of Jesus’ final discourse with his disciples on the night before his death. Jesus knows that the authorities are coming for him and the risk for his disciples too is great. They risk falling away when the time of danger comes. So he speaks to them about the Spirit. What is the greatest risk to your faith today? What is the greatest risk to the church? Could it be from those who believe that they are worshiping God but are really throwing the faithful out of the church? Pray that the Spirit might help you to discern today the ways to truly worship the living God.
