Wednesday, June 8: Scripture – Ezekiel 37:4-6
4 Then he said to me, “Prophesy to these bones, and say to them: O dry bones, hear the word of the Lord.
5 Thus says the Lord God to these bones: I will cause breath to enter you, and you shall live.
6 I will lay sinews on you, and will cause flesh to come upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and you shall live; and you shall know that I am the Lord.”
Prayer Focus: Whether the bones will live again depends entirely on the Lord. And yet, we are not without work to do and a role to play. The Lord tells the prophet to speak to the bones, to prophesy to them that God will be at work. The bones do not have to capture the breath or grow sinews or flesh or skin. The Lord will cause breath to enter them, lay sinews on them, cause flesh to come to them, and cover them with skin. The Lord brings life. Pray that you might speak a word that points to the life only God can bring today.
